He is here!!! Today, Hofdame produced a beautiful black colt by C'est Bon. We proudly present: High Light (barn name Bo, he is a bonus after all!!).

May 2008

Time flies when you're having fun ..... riding Hofdame has been a wonderful experience for me. We even went to our first shows. You cannot imagine my shock and gradual relief when I thought she was seriously sick, being not as happy to work, tired, and oddly shaped and a thorough investigation by our vet showed: she is pregnant!!! What a mare!! She was working and doing her best while far over 3/4 though her term - and we never suspected a thing. I guess that is Trakehner "willingness" to a T. Of course, once we knew, she went on a brood mare diet and out of work. We're now waiting for her to foal any day. She is in foal to the Trakehner Reserve Champion from 2004, C'est Bon (by Distelzar out of a Tycoon - EH Sokrates dam).

The other great news is that Fairwell is finally back under saddle and in training. Her catastrophic 2007 year with colic surgery and near death is finally past, and I can't wait to get her back in show condition. Since my plans with Hofdame fell short (see above), Fairwell will get more attention than she probably cares for! Her son Fairwind continues to be a great joy to work and be around. his manners are just impeccable, his athleticism obvious and I'm having a blast!

As far as breedings go, Fair Diva's new husband in 2008 is the wonderful Magritte, now living with Mae Jean Fichter at her Mae's Way Farm in Kentucky. We have had such wonderful experience with everything that carries Ravel and Van Deyk, he seemed like a wise choice. We'll let you know what we think - in 2009!

We've added a stallion page to our menu to introduce a few of the sires represented at our farm, and pages for Magritte and C'est Bon have been added most recently. Enjoy!!

A lot has happened in the past month. The big news of the day is that we have sold Fancey Fair to our repro vet Dr. Sloan and are thrilled about that, because not only is this a great way to promote our horses, but Fancey's future will be one we can actually keep track of and enjoy together with her new owner. And we are expanding our band of exquisite brood mares with our most recent acquisition: the German State and Verband premium mare Hofdame, a bay daughter of the exceptional EH Hohenstein, arrived here in Texas and we are thrilled to pieces!! She will start a dual career under saddle and as a brood mare, adding an exceptional dam line to our program. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the filly's new owner, Sherri Mellskog of Mellwood Trakehners in Tennessee. And a big thank you to our pals of Trakehners International, who helped make this dream come true!

We have also added two new exciting photos of Fairwind on his site, taken at his most recent show where yet again, he was champion! He is maturing into a very handsome stallion, and also now under saddle. Despite his young age, he handles his work schedule beautifully and is still a true sweetheart to be around!

How do we say this ... the dream was not meant to be. Fara's Legacy, our lovely filly by Huno out of our late Fair Rock, followed her mother over the rainbow bridge after she developed so strongly and without any apparent problems. An aggressive leg infection was her end, and we are truly overwhelmed with grief and emotions. We take comfort in the fact that she is now with her mom. Life goes on at the farm, but these two incredible horses certainly left a big gap - in their stalls and in our hearts!

June 15th 2007

These past few days in June have been every bit the rollercoaster ride of emotions a breeder can possibly go through. Our foaling season started out well when Fair Diva delivered a stunning bay filly - all on her own! In the 45min between the hourly rounds of the barn, she managed to sneak in this joyful bundle and really surprised everybody. After all, she is a first time mom! Meet Fancey Fair! And then, a few days later, we lost our beautiful Fair Rock during labor ... what a grand lady she was, she stayed with us to see her daughter be well, and then crossed the rainbow bridge. We're still in shock over her untimely passing, she was such a center piece of every day at the farm. However, her legacy truly lives on, since she left us with yet another bay daughter!! Her orphan filly is strong, healthy and a great package of "all legs". Fara's Legacy will be her name, "Legs" is her barn name.

We are now on the web!!!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever web site, and we're very proud of what we have done here!! Fairwind Farm is a young, but dedicated breeding and training facility in Texas and we're just happy to share our exciting Trakehner horses with our friends and clients on the world wide web. Please make our site a regular one to visit, bookmark us, and stop by our guest book to let us know what you think!!
