Fairwind
Fairwind is Fairwell's first foal, and we couldn't be any happier with him. He has placed well and won in numerous in hand shows, which we only chose for him so that he can gain some experience being shown. From the beginning, we were hoping and dreaming of something that could turn into "stallion material" and indeed, Fairwind seems to posess that rare mix of presence, personality and conformation quality that turns colts into true stallion prospects. We had to depend on many outside opinions here, and they have been overwhelmingly good so far. We plan to present Fairwind for ATA approval, but really have his well-being in mind and will base our final decision about the "when" on his maturity and development.

Fairwind as a three year old 2007:

Fairwind's sire is the famous Trakehner eventing stallion Windfall *Pg*. Why would we chose an eventer for Fairwell's dressage-loaden pedigree, you might wonder ... As a matter of fact, Windfall could also have ended up with an upper level dressage career, orpossibly even as a show jumper. The stallion is one of the most versatile and talented allround athletes in the equine world today and from a very young age on, showed much talent for almost everything he was asked to do. Obviously it helped that his first trainer and rider is one of the most versatile trainers in the world too, Ingrid Klimke. She exposed Windfall to dressage and show jumping just as much as to eventing, and so as a 5 year old, Windfall actually qualified for the Bundeschampionat in dressage and eventing! As a 6 year old, he won the Bundeschampionat in Germany and was winning CIC** and *** events in Europe by the age of 7! After his sale to the US in late 2000, he continued that way with his new rider Darren Chiacchia, and as we all know, he has become the world's most successful eventing stallion on the young 21st century. This site is not big enough to list all achievemnets, but let#s point towards his individual Gold medal at the 2003 Pan Am Games, and at his Team bronze medal at the Olympics in Athens in 2004. For his owner Timothy Holekamp, Windfall also won the modified Rolex Kentucky CCI**** in 2004 and has added a list of awards from both the USEA and ATA. Since his sire Habicht, the legendary CCI*** winner in Achselschwang and best German horse at the CCI**** Burghley in 1978, also displayed a huge amount of versatility in his offspring, we figured that the match of Windfall's interesting bloodlines, his performance record, and Fairwell's own genetic background would provide the best basis for success!

Habicht was one of the most important sport horse sires after WWII in the Trakehner breed. Himself a more than accomplished international eventer under Germany's Martin Plewa, Habicht sired international show jumpers (e.g. Livius/A. Kursinski, USA or E.H. Sixtus/G. Böckmann, Germany), international eventers (besides Windfall, e.g. Foray) and his sons Seeadler and Coktail are the dam sires of such exceptional international dressage horses as Renaissance Fleur TSF/M. Theodorescu, Germany and Peron TSF/M. Gibson, USA. Habicht had a number of very important approved sons, and his son E.H. Sixtus has recently put the line onto a whole new quality level, with sons such as Axis, Buddenbrock, Kasparow, Silver and many others, who already have sons and grand sons approved! Habicht was ann equally important mare producer (take e.g. Arwetta, his black daughter, who is the dam of the approved stallions EH Argument, Argonaut, Aron and Arsenal) or his North American daughter Palma Nigra *E*, the dam of four approved stallions within the ATA.

Habicht's influence can be clearly seen in Windfall and his offspring. However, Windfall's dam is certainly an example for breed history books! One of only three TB elite mares in the German breed, this mare has outdone herself as a producer more than just a few times! Wundermädel xx was a race horse as a 3 and 4yr old mare in Germany and was then sold as a future brood mare. She had a couple of foals and was then trained as an eventer and won at intermediate levels before she was fully retired at stud. She produced 10 foals, among them the international CCI*** eventing mare E.St. Windspiel by Hyalit (who is a successful brood mare herself these days), the eventers Wondering Star by EH Tuareg, Wildfire by EH Sixtus and Windfall by Habicht. She is also the dam of the outstanding brood mare West Virginia by Sascha, who managed to produce 13 foals, no less than 6 winning horses in eventing above preliminary level (the youngest 5 years old) right now! West Virgini's daughter Wetterhexe, who also qualified for the Bundeschampionat in eventing, is in turn dam of two foals already, one winning at training level as 4 year old - naturally as an eventer! Wundermädel xx has proven herself as one of the most dominant sport horser producers of our time, and seems to haved the rare gift to be able to pass on her own qualities for several generations. not a bad mare line to add to Fairwind's own dam line of Flocke!

Wundermädel's bloodlines leave little to wish for. Her sire Madruzzo xx was a champion sire in Europe, of both steeplechasers as well as regular race horses. His sire Kaiseradler xx also produced the impeccable Patricius xx, sire of the Trakehner elite stallion and Grand Prix dressage winner Van Deyk, who is one of the breed's most consistent and successful dressage sires today! Madruzzo xx also produced the TB stallions Mormone xx, Hohenstein xx and Tremezzo xx, which were all used in warmblood breeding. Mormone xx is the dam sire of the two approved Trakehner stallions Powerpoint and Pomerol (who are both by EH Van Deyk!!) and Madruzzo's son Navarino xx is the dam sire of the champion stallion and CCI eventer Skatman (by EH Sixtus!).
Everything concerning Fairwind's dam Fairwell and her bloodlines can be found on her own site!
