Fairwell

Fairwell is a very modern horse with tremendous action in her front end as well as a nice engine in her back and lofty, high qualiyt gaits overall. She is inspected into the ATA OSB with a total of 55 points, just one point short of Model mare designation. She was the High Point Inspection Champion at the 2002 Texas ATA inspection with scores of 8,7,7/9,8,8/8 in detail. Fairwell exhibits classic Trakehner type and her harmonious body, expression and high quality gaits are matched with a supererb, unique pedigree.

Trakehner mare family of O102A3 Flocke IV (Gutsverwaltung Gut Schweighof)

Fairwell's primary job at the farm is that of a performance horse in dressage. She has already earned scores in the high 60s and lower 70s at first level, debuted at 2nd level and is currently schooling 3rd level. Additionally, Stacy took her to a Michelle Gibson clinic and is now a regular visitor at Michelle's training facility in Texas. In fact, we are proud to say that Michelle voiced a high opinion regarding Fairwell's potential as an upper level dressage horse and we mean to take her there! However, when you have such a mare in your barn, it is really tough to not dream about foals. So in 2003, we bred Fairwell to Dr. Timothy Holekamp's star eventer Windfall *Pg*, who is the world's best eventing stallion ever (based on performance !). The foal that was born in 2004 did not disappoint at all, in fact, we're getting ready to present the colt Fairwind to the ATA for approval in 2007.

Fairwell at her inspection:

Through her sire, Fairwell carries the most successful dressage blood of the Trakehner breed. The sire Ravel was a German elite stallion, who was a successful FEI dressage competitor himself. He was bred at Gestüt Hörem in Lower-Saxony and never left that farm up untiö his untimely death in 2004. Ravel, who was a rather substantial stallion, sired performance horses at advanced levels in Germany in dressage, eventing and show jumping, a feat only very few stallions ever accomplish in their lives. This includes, e.g. the eventers Mein Polli and Lorenz; the dressage horses Playback, Kavalieri, Harlekin or Rocky Racoon; the show jumpers Cornus and Rehmus; and even the FEI driving horse Irabell. Ravel also produced the approved stallions Cornus (Elite prospect in Europe, M-level show jumper, sire of approved stallion Urpsrung TSF with wins at FEI dressage), Arlington II (now in the US, FEI dressage competitor in North America), Excalibur (premium stallion in Neumünster 1992) and Graffitti (at stud in Germany). He is also the dam sire to the CCI** eventer and approved Kaiserwalzer, and the mare Gute Laune, who produced the most expensive 2 year old filly ever sold in Neumünster, Gute Nacht (by Buddenbrock; NMS 2006; 65,000€). One of Ravel's best daughters is the mare Hilka, who produced the FEI dressage gelding Hinnerk TSF (owned by the German National Dressage Trainer, Holger Schmetzer), as well as the FEI dressage gelding Hardenberg's Lemon (now owned by Margo Hoagland on CA, USA) and the most recently, German Verband approved top dressage prospect Hulian. The list of Ravel's achievements is so long, it would clearly blow up this site. One things should be very apparent though: he was a classic Trakehner sire with an endless list of very successful offspring in all disciplines, backed up by his own FEI performance record in dressage and an exceptional pedigree that combines two of the most influential lines of the breed after WWII. For the ATA, his daughter High Class produced the recently approved Huno. Because of the obvious "nick" of Ravel-blood with our foundation mare Fair Rock, we decided to breed her to Huno for a 2007 foal. More can be found at the "Foals 2007" link.

The elite stallion Ravel:

E.H. Ravel's sire Mahagoni only lived to the age of 12, but sired numerous influential sons and daughters, and more importantly, internationally successful dressage horses. His most successful son was the approved stallion Peron TSF, who was America's most successful Grand Prix horse in the mid 90s, winning not only in the US, but in the heart of Europe at several CDI shows. Ridden by Michelle Gibson, the impressive tall bay stallion ended up as the best horse of the 1996 US Olympic Team in Atlanta, winning Team Bronze and placing 5th individually. Peron continued his Grand Prix career for two other nations (Germany and Swizerland) before a freak accident ended his amazing life way too soon. Mahagoni also sired the French European Championat Bronze medalist Marlon, and the international Grand Prix stallion Chronos, who was also rather influential in the KWPN breed. Mahagoni's strongest breeding influence comes through the line of his son Enrico Caruso *Ps*E* and his most important son Kostolany. The World Equestrian Games in Aachen 2006 were dramatic testimony, when Daqnish superstar Matine by KOstolany's son Silvermoon won three medals, only 9 years old! Kostolany is also the sire of the international Grand Prix competitor, and Verband elite/KWPN keur stallion Gribaldi. This amazing black stallion has put the line to new recognition. His approved sons are numerous, but especially the 2000 Reserve Champion and now S-successful dressage stallion Hofrat stands out....his Hanoverian son Hotline was the champion in Verden in 2005, sold at auction for the all-time record of 800,000€ and most recently won his 70 day test with overwhelming top scores. The strongest paternal line of E.H. Gribaldi seems to come through his bay son Distelzar though. This Trakehner impressed with top sons at the auction in Neumünster year after year, and is an accomplished dressage stallion himself.

The family: Mahagoni, E.H. Gribaldi and another important son, E.H. Bartholdy:

E.H. Ravel's dam Rauhe was one of the top mares of the breed in the late 70s and early 80s. Her influence is tremendous, as not only Ravel was approved, but she also produced the NMS Reserve Champion, Grand Prix and German Verband elite stallion and sire of top sport horses, Rockefeller! And now it might become clear why Fairwell is such a unique mare: she is very closely linebred to this magnificent mare Rauhe, whose dam Rastenburg won the prestigious DLG show in Germany and was considered one of the best "model" mares after WWII. The direct family also stands for the German approved, and ATA-stationed stallion Ricardo (by Index out of Rastenburg), as well as the ATA approved Royal Ransom (a full brother to Ravel), and Rondel (by Hennessey). A thourough pedigree description of E.H. Rockefeller can be found on Fair Rock's site! While we will describe the dam Fair Rock in more detail on her own site, we would like to mention another fact that makes Fairwell's pedigree stand out for sure: her direct dam line of O102A3 Flocke, which traces back to Germany's well known Gustverwaltung Schwaighof close to Augsburg in Bavaria, goes straight back to the mare thaqt gave the family her name: the bay Gabriel-daughter Flocke. Her family is big and she managed to extend a branch of the original background of this family, the O102 Flora-line, into new dimensions. She is the dam of the foundation sire Flaneur!! Flaneur is the dam sire of Mahagoni (which adds more important inbreeding to Fairwell's pedigree), and without doubt the most important improvement sire of the modern Trakehner dressage horse. Flaneur's influence is tremendous. His line is present in the majority of today's Trakehner horses and his impact on other breeds, especially Hanover and Oldenburg, is huge. More credit for his achievements will follow on Fair Rock's page.
