St.Pr.St. Fair Rock
Fair Rock was a German State Premium Mare that was imported from breeder Hubertus Poll in the 90s. She was born in 1993 and inspected into the Trakehner Verband Main Mare Book with the scores of 8,7,7/8,8,8/8 (total 54 points). This mare had a very solid foundation and breathtaking movement, at a very high overall quality in her three paces. But it's not only her phenotype and pedigree that made her stand out, it was the uniform quality of her offspring that make her a breeder's dream come true! Very sadly, we lost Fair Rock, "Fara", while giving birth to her filly Fara's Legacy (by Huno) in June 2007. God speed, Fara!

St. Pr. St. Fair Rock only recently joined our team. We already had three of her daughters on the farm and the quality of these horses is just simply amazing. Fair Rock's daughter Fair One *M* (by Grafioso) is an ATA Model mare and was the highest scoring mare at the annual ATA meeting in Conroe, TX in 2005. Fair Rock's daughter Fairwell (by EH Ravel) is an in-hand champion, under salle winner and already mother of a stunning stallion prospect and Fair Diva (by Rock Point xx) sums up this triplet of outstanding daughters. What more than this kind of consistency could a breeder ask for? And isn't this the brest prove for the hypothesis that it is the mare line that determines the success of your breeding program? Obviously, the stallions that were bred to Fair Rock and sired these three daughters coudln't have been more different ... We are just thrilled that we had the opportunity to own this elegant mare, even if only for a short time. Her personality, her grace and her beauty will be missed on the farm for years to come. We thank Fara for her last gift, a beautiful bay filly named "Fara's Legacy" by the Trakehner stallion Huno.

Fair Rock's sire Rockefeller was a German Trakehner elite stallion and one of the best sporthorse producers in the breed. He had four approved sons in Germany, all of them leaving quite the mark on the breed:
- EH Benz is an accomplished FEI dressage horse and elite stallion based on his own performance record and the quality of his offspring, with the approved son Minetti and offspring in advanced competition in dressage and driving in Europe. EH Benz is one of the breed's top movement producers (based on the statistical analysis of inspection scores of his daughters in Germany)
- Fontainbleau was the champion stallion in Neumünster in 1993 and continued his career at his home stud in Hörem. He became a successful international CCI*** event horse and very sadly died at only 12 years of age. Among his many offspring are the international eventers Kunta Kinte TSF (who also won the prestigious Bundeschampionat), Karama M and El Greco. Fontainbleau sired the approved stallions El Greco and Albarrano (premium). He is the dam sire of the ATA's approved Inamorato.
- Chardonnay was a successful FEI dressage stallion and in 1997, Germany's most successful 7 year old dressage horse at S-level (all breeds!). He had only very limited chances in the breed, but soince 2006, stands back at stud in Germany. Chardonnay sired the successful dressage stallion Alter Fritz, himself sire of the approved Chabrol (UK).
- Artistic-Rock is yet another FEIi dressage stallion, and today stationed in the Netherlands. The very powerful mover had even less chances in the breed, but managed to produce such amazing mares as St.Pr.St. Heavenly (100,000DM auction mare in Neumünster) or St.Pr.St. Hillary (both mares were members of the National Champion mare family - get of mare - at the National Trakehner Mare Show in Neustadt/Dosse 2004).

The sire Rockefeller:
|
EH Rockefeller was equally important and successful as the sire of outstanding mares (e.g. National champions Klassic-Rock and Gute Reise) and performance horses that competed at the top levels in all three major disciplines. Among them are the dressage horses like Rocky Balbloa, eventers like the CCI*** succeful Eos, show jumpers like Flambeau and driving horses like Asterix. When EH Rockefeller died very unexpectedly at age 17 in the same year that his sire EH Consul passed away, the breed had lost two of the best sport horse producers it ever had, and the gap was impossible to fill to this day.
EH Consul was a major stallion for the breed and deserves the same recognition as Habicht, Donauwind or Mahagoni. His offspring stand for top athleticism, intelligence, high natural rideability and soundness. EH Consul was an important mare sire as well, and left also a huge mark on the Hanoverian breed (e.g. champion stallion Don Frederico, approved premium Don Vino, the Verden top seller Dark Diamond or the Olympic and World Championship Gold medalist Bonaparte all have EH Consul-dams!!). Like other famous stallions of his era, Consul was an "Anglo" Trakehner, highlighting the need of constant TB influx into our stud books most dramatically.

On the dam sire, the story continues just as interestingly. The dam sire was the chestnut Postmeister, a successful dressage sire from East Prussian heritage (noth tracing back to the main stud Trakehnen, but to the private breeders of East Prussia). He made a name for himself as a good dressage horse producers, whose offspring almost always had a very active hind end with good impulsion, good size, and very good rideability. An interesting side note is that the great Dr. Reiner Klimke himself bred to Postmeister twice! Postmeister's sire Major was an equally successful dressage sire, and also had the approved son Magister, a grey Trakehner who stood in the Oldenburg breeding region and gained rather significant influence in the Oldenburg breed as well. Postmeister's approved son Kokoschka was a great "movement" producer for the Trakehner breed and stood at stud in South Germany and lately Austria. He passed away in 2005, leaving the breed with his excellent approved sons Poker E (FEI dressage winner).
The second dam Fire Lady is a proven producer in the Trakehner breed. Her son Feingeist (pictured left) was approved in Neumünster in 1994 and made a name for himself as an excellent mare producer. His grandson Impetus (by Vivus - Feingeist) was approved in Neumünster in 2004 and just recently won his 70 day test in Germany with overwhelming scores for both dressage and jumping. Feingeist stands at Meadoview Stud in Canada today. Fair Rock's dam Fiona VIII is also dam of the German mare First Lady (by EH Ravel). The sire of Fire Lady, the black Matador, was one of the breed's most popular stallions in the late 70s and early 80s in Germany. His sons were never able to really step into his footsteps, and with the exception of the outstanding dressage line of his son EH Tipperary, were rather insignificant. However, Matador's daughters proved to be really outstanding, and so we can probably conclude that his true value comes through the dam side. He is the dam sire of the elite stallions Hohenstein and Monteverdi TSF, as well as the reserve champion Ressort, and the excellent ATA mares Havel and Havanna (Newspring Farm). Matador, as a son of Donauwind, carried impeccable sporthorse lines through the grey Pregel, a truly stamping stallion of the breed after WWII. Matador's dam line was a branch of the famous Marke family, whic among other, stands for the great sires Maharadscha, Mahagoni, Marlon, Marke's Letzter and EH Mackensen 8as well as the younger Marcato). This is without doubt one of the most important mare families of the entire breed (and as we'd like to point out, one that Fair Rock is linebred to, since both Matador and Maharadscha appear in her pedigree!).
The greater Flamme family, which our brenach of Flocke is a part of, also produced the stallions Flugwind (ATA), Falkner, Fourtrax (ATA), Fahnenträger II, Fasolt (ATA), Falkensee (New Zealand), and the above mentioned Feingeist. And one member of this family truly stands out: Flaneur!! Fair Rock's third dam Flocktina was a full sister to Flaneur, the most important dressage sire this breed has had after WWII. Flaneur was able to found two major stallion lines. The less-known came through his excellent son Rubin, who was later imported to Canada and is the sire of the ATA's performance proven Rubinesque *Pb*. Rubin also produced the chestnut Majoran, the sire of the 1989 Neumünster champion Preussenprinz. Flaneur's major input however, comes through his son EH Arogno, and his daughters Maharani II (dam of Mahagoni) and others like Karawane II, Kanconette, Turandot or Anna Karenina. Just to give you a brief overview:
- Flaneur - EH Arogno - the line of e.g. EH Caprimond (with EH Hohenstein and sons), Schwadroneur (with Hertug), EH Napoleon Quatre, Giorgio Armani (e.g. dam sire of Illux, I-Punkt, Insterburg TSF), Ivernel, EH Partout (with EH Monteverdi TSF, Halbgott, Sarasani, Goodwood and more), EH Loudidor, Polarpunkt (with e.g. Showtime, Elfengeist, Opernball, Glenn Livit F), Traumdeuter or Wakond
- Flaneur - Gajus - E.St. Kimora as dam of the two outstanding Bundeschampions and full brothers Kaiserdom TSF and Kaiserkult TSF
- Flaneur's daughters like Arktis II (dam of Arentino), Anna Karenina (dam of Amatcho), Turandot (dam of Turnus) and many more
- Flaneur's other sons like Don, Istanbul, Luneur (ATA), Memphis, Avignon II (ATA), Troubadour (ATA), Damaskus, or Hemmingway (ATA)
After this little tour through the pedigree of our Fair Rock, we hope you can understand our excitement. Despite the fact that noboy can "ride on paper", a brood mare must have certain criteria apart from her phenotype. Fair Rock is a perfect example of the ultimate mix of pedigree and performance.
